Freedom of speech? What are your thoughts on it?

Whoever was the first to use that term must have realized "Give us enough rope we will hang our self". Free speech is protected but it can land you in jail. People thinking I can say what I want to say have probly landed in more trouble than folks that know to keep their mouth shut.

I think the ideal of free speech was a great way for the government to keep track of dissenters. Let folks believe they can speak freely. They feel comfortable. We can track them. Let them speak freely amongst themselves and feel comfortable doing that.

The problem is, people abuse it all the time, with threats, slander and hate speech. It's not the govt., it's the people that don't know how to use it. There's a fine line, not everything can be covered under "free speech".

Have no idea where its the "govt. not allowing" free speech, dissent isn't popular with them, but it's completely allowed...esp the ridiculous, hateful **** you hear about this new admin( which I consider just ignorance more than dissent)
